About Me
I am a freelance investigative journalist based in Miami. I have extensively covered topics including the Venezuelan Amazon, corruption cases, immigration, the humanitarian crisis in Venezuela, and Latino workers in the US. Additionally, I am a co-founder of the Venezuelan Amazon Journalists Network. My work has appeared in publications such as El Tiempo Latino, The Guardian, Univision, Armando.info, Correo del Caroní, among others. I was an Open Society Fellow in 2019, a Resilience Fund Fellow in 2020, and became a member of the Oxford Climate Journalism Network in 2023. I'm currently a fellow at the Global Initiative against Transnational Organized Crime, IRE's 2024 Chauncey Bailey Journalist of Color Investigative Reporting Fellow and Gwen Ifill Mentorship Program of IWMF.
Awards:
2020. The Inter-American Press Association (IAPA) Award in the human rights and public service category for Fosas del Silencio.
2020. Special mention in the X Edition of the IPYSve Award for Fosas del Silencio: los desaparecidos en la búsqueda de El Dorado.
2018. Roche Award for Huérfanos de la Salud, a paper mentored by Instituto Prensa y Sociedad (Ipys) Venezuela.
2016. Finalist in the Gabo Awards in the coverage category, for the follow-up to the massacre of Tumeremo (Venezuela) in the Amazon.
